Explore Korean medicine source records without erasing their provenance
Uibang Seongdo (醫方星圖) is an independent research and education project that visualises formulas, medicinal materials, symptoms, and the source-labelled relations between them.
What the numbers mean
The figure 38,120 counts unique source identifiers, not distinct medical concepts. Records with the same Korean or Chinese label remain separate when their source IDs differ. The figure 231,319 counts normalised, undirected source-label relations used for exploration; it is not a count of proven effects, causal links, or treatment recommendations.
Method in brief
- Preserve the official source identifier and original label fields.
- Normalise whitespace and Unicode for matching while retaining raw-source distinctions.
- Keep homonymous records separate instead of merging them automatically.
- Resolve relation targets only when the source label maps to an unambiguous record under the published rule set.
- Distinguish reciprocal source declarations from relations declared on one side only.
- Run deterministic checks for duplicate keys, missing targets, self-links, duplicate edges, and provenance locators at build time.
Current limitations
- The public beta is for research, education, and public-data exploration; it does not provide diagnosis, prescribing, dosing, or clinical guidance.
- Historical source statements and graph proximity do not establish modern clinical efficacy or causality.
- Not every relation has been reviewed manually against a primary passage.
- NCKM drug-interaction raw data and detailed derivatives are not included in the public beta.
- Snapshots from five MFDS APIs are not included. Their official source pages are listed in the data coverage overview.
- The preservation DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21916379 identifies only the 75,673-byte rights-scoped preservation-documentation ZIP. It does not mean that the complete website source or full third-party source datasets have been released, or that external endorsement or peer review has been completed.
